Cathy Campos

Parish Clerk

I moved to Dartmouth 8 years ago with the idea of retiring, after running my own successful PR Consultancy for over 20 years. However, I found that I really missed using my brain and felt I wanted to use my experience and knowledge for the good of the town , so stood for election for Dartmouth Town Council in 2019 and was elected. I have found it very fulfilling and incredibly satisfying to be a Town Councillor, so much so that I stood again this year and am proud to be this year’s Deputy Mayor. The role of a Parish Clerk is to record and implement the decisions made by the Parish Council. One can advise if asked but should remain neutral rather like the Civil Service serves the Government. In the past many parish Clerks sported a white wig and black robes similar to those a barrister wear bit I don’t go that far at Cornworthy Parish Council meetings! Having been on one side of the fence it has been really interesting to be on the other side of it as well! Cornworthy is a beautiful village and a wonderful place to live. I am pleased to be able to play a very small part in making it even better.
