DRAFT Minutes of the Meeting of Cornworthy Parish Council
In Cornworthy Village Hall on Monday 19th May 2025 at 7.30pm
Present: Cllr Tuppen (Chair), Cllr Bailey (Vice Chair), Cllr Fowler, Cllr Finn, Cllr Thompson, Cllr Hammond and Cllr Hunt were present as was C Campos Parish Clerk.
25/23 Apologies for Absence: Cllr Rake
25/24 Cllr Ted Tuppen was elected as Chair
25/25 Cllr Dave Bailey was elected as Vice Chair
25/26 No Councillor Interests were declared
25/27 Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the Cornworthy Parish Council (CPC) meeting of 17th March were approved and are available on the CPC website.
25/28 Matters Arising from the Minutes
None
25/29 A resident’s concern about parking in the village were noted. It was resolved that CPC would establish through DCC what measures such as signage and road painting could be implemented especially around the fire hydrant at the Village Hall, the pinch point at the lower end of the village and the junction at Alexandra Place.
25/30 Email notifications on upcoming roadworks from DCC Highways appear to have stopped. Cllr Fowler has managed to pick these up through the DCC website. The Clerk has asked Cllr Rake to request that email notifications are reinstated.
25/31 Planning
25/31.1 The decision on 0710/25/ARC was noted
2531.2 CPC will respond to the consultation that the Cornworthy Phone Box and pay phone should be retained as the poor mobile phone signal in the Parish means that it is the only guaranteed method to make an emergency call.
25/32 Finance
25/32 .1 The CPC Finance report for 2024/25 showed a favourable net variance compared to the budget of £2153 (once ring-fenced funds for the Defibs and VETS were taken into account). This surplus may give CPC some flexibility in its 2025/26 spending.
25/32.2 The following payments were approved.

25/32.3 The Annual Internal Auditors Report 2024/25was noted
25/32.4 The Certificate of Exemption AGAR 2024/25 was approved.
25/32.5 The Annual Governance Statement 2024/25 was approved
25/32.6 The Annual Accounting Statements 2024/25 was approved
25/32.7 The CPC Insurance Schedule and Premium for 2025/26 was approved
25/33 It was agreed that TARCT would be invited to make a formal grant application
25/34 The Cornworthy Pig Roast due to take place on 28th June is coming together well but more volunteers are needed. If lots of residents give a couple of hours each then everyone will be able to enjoy a great day
25/35 Reports
25/35.1 Clerks and RFO The Clerk’s report was received
25/35.2 Parish Volunteers – There are lots of them, but more are always needed!
